22nd March 2012 Roundup

1. MTV orders new reality show.

MTV have announced they have commissioned a new reality show called The Heights.
The dramailty show will be set in the Washington Heights area of New York. In a statement, MTV billed the shows cast members including a professional baseball player, a hip-hop musician and a spoken-word performer as a group of best friends, living, working and partying in gritty and diverse neighbourhood of Washingston Heights.

How exciting. I love a good dramality show and MTV have a good track record when it comes to these type of shows. Anyone remember a little show called The Hills? Laguna Beach? The City? Yes those were all dramality and they were amazing. And let's not forget Jersey Shore which I think counts as dramailty. Exciting stuff.

2. Katy Perry drops new music video!

We previewed it a few weeks back, now check out the whole vid!

I love it! Katy's videos are always something to look forward to and this did not disappoint! Entertaining, heartfelt and fun. It's nice to see a different side to her and it's nice to see her black hair again! What do you think her latest video?

3. NBC renews Smash.

Excellent news alert! If your a fan of NBC's new show, Smash you'll be happy to hear they have renewed it for Season 2.

If you don't know what Smash is, or what it's about, FOR SHAME. Smash is a musical drama series created by Theresa Rebeck and produced by Steven Spielberg. (Yes, the director) It focuses on a new musical being produced about Marilyn Monroe's life.

It stars a whole cast of big names such as Debra Messing, Angelica Huston and Jack Davenport. Also new names playing leading roles like Katherine McPhee who won American Idol and Megan Hilty, who's stared in musicals Wicked and 9-5.

The show is really great I think. I was a bit weary at the beginning because I was a bit confused as to how they could keep the show going week after week and season after season. Longativity is essential for networks to like them, and I didn't see this show having any, but once you watching and see the pace they are taking, you can see it lasting a while. Maybe not full 22 episode seasons, but 15 episodes a season is a good amount for a show like this.

Check out a preview for Smash below.

Brilliant.

4. Hilary Duff has popped out a baby!

I love Hilary Duff. Have done ever since the Lizzie McQuire period of her life. And when she announced she was preggaz, I couldn't of been happier for her. It feels like it was years ago though when she announced it, but now she's finally given birth to a little boy.

On Tuesday (20th March), Hilary gave birth to Luca Cruz Comrie. While I'm not overly keen on the name, congratulations to her and her partner, Mike Comrie.
