24-25th Weekend Roundup

1. Sport Relief raises a shit load of dollar!

On Friday night, while I was seeing The Hunger Games (more on that later), Sport Relief aired.

Last time, the total at the end of the night was £29,323,818. Last night the total at the end of the night was £50,447,197! That. Is. Amazing. Especially in the current times we are living in. The 7 hour telethon featured the likes of mini episodes of Miranda and Outnumbered, as well as a Benidorm/Britian's Got Talent crossover featuring Simon Cowell. Well done to everyone involved and to everyone who donated!

2. The Saturday night ratings are in!

And they are big!
As you know BBC and ITV went head to head on Saturday night with The Voice and Britain's Got Talent going up against each other. As predicted, BGT got the bigger ratings at 9.43m and peaking at 10.93m, while The Voice managed 8.43m and peaking at 9.6m. BUT when the two shows clashed for 20 minutes, The Voice thrashed BGT. Between 8PM and 8:20PM, The Voice had 8.9m watching, while BGT had a measly 6.71m. So The Voice technically won this battle of the talent shows! Congratulations.

You can read my review of The Voice later.

3. BBC renews Being Human.

The series 4 finale aired tonight and shortly afterwards, it was announced via their Twitter account that Series 5 has been commissioned for 2013!

I'm not sure whether this is good news or not yet. Being Human has gone through some massive changes in Series 4. 3 out of 4 main cast left, leaving just Annie. While Tom was introduced in series 3, he stepped up as a main cast member, along with new character Hal, the vampire. I haven't been keeping up with this regularly because me and my sister like to watch it together and we never have the same day off to watch it! What I've seen so far has been good. Not as good as previous series, but good in it's own way.

I think I need to watch the rest of the series and see what happens before I pass judgement on whether series 5 is a good idea.

4. Katy Perry takes Number 1!

Katy Perry has scored her third UK number 1 with new single 'Part of Me'.

Someone has knocked creepy Gotye off the top spot finally! Urgh. Still cannot stand that song, or understand the love for it. Anyway, here's the UK Top 10 in full with links to each song!

  1. Katy Perry - Part Of Me
  2. Sean Paul - She Doesn't Mind
  3. Gotye featuring Kimbra - Someone I Used To Know
  4. Labrinth - Last Time
  5. Nicki Minaj - Starships
  6. JLS - Proud
  7. David Guetta featuring Sia - Titanium
  8. Flo Rida featuring Sia - Wild Ones
